Im planning to live in adelaide... is it good? its a fun place? thanks!?

I moved from Adelaide to Melbourne early last year, I had lived in Adelaide all my life.

Adelaide is a nice little place, easy to get around (although you wouldn't want to rely on public transport). Everything is so centrally located, from the city you can be at the beach in 20 mins or in the hills in 20 mins.

It's a great place to raise a family and also for retirees in saying that though there's not much for the 20 and 30 somethings that are single (I'm 24 and was in desperate need of a sea change).

There are a few nice pubs and eateries but because there is not the large range as bigger cities have you tend to end up doing the same thing at the same place (and you see the same faces at these same places)

A few things to do in Adelaide include
Central Market visit for fresh fruits and other food delicacies
A shopping expedition in Rundle Mall
A trip to the Barossa or McLaren Vale for wine tasting
A trip to Victor Harbor/Granite Island
Glenelg
The Parade, Norwood for good food (and the Feb food and wine festival)

I hope that if you do decide to move you enjoy! Let me know if you need further info as 24 years of living there means I've pretty much seen it all! Good Luck!

Adelaide isn't a bad place. It's not the most interesting one either though. The CBD is tiny and there's not much to do. It's not fantastic if you've got kids either. Adelaide is well known for wierd and wacky murders. And a lot of them go unsolved too. There's the Beaumont Kids who went to the beach for the day and didn't come back. The two kids who went missing at Adelaide Oval. They went to the toilet and didn't come back. And then you have the Snowtown Murders where they found the bodies of ten young men, half of which were disolved in acid in a barrel in the old bank of Snowtown. Adelaide's police system is thought to have been a bit corrupt because of the amount of unsolved murder cases.
However, the general idea is as long as you're in a group and don't accept rides from strangers you'll be fine.
Entertainment wise Adelaide doesn't get a lot of bands. For some reason they like to skip us when they tour Australia. Adelaide just doesn't pull the crowds.
But that's all the bad stuff.
We have pretty good museum and art gallery. Adelaide is quite artsy these days. The Botanic Gardens is nice. Once again though, be careful it had a reputation for rape and murder. Oh and the Adelaide Zoo runs interesting behind the scenes tours a lot. The schooling isn't too bad either, although mainly in private schools. There are probably a lot more good points that I haven't thought of, like the Central Market. If you really want to see what it's like before you move here then why don't you spend a week here first? That's generally the way to go before you move to a new city.
Hope this has been helpful and good luck.

I loved living their not too big not too small. And it has some of the best beaches.

I love living here not too busy but not boring either

Great place

I live in Adelaide and I'm usually entertained. Most people here are nice, but really, it's just a nice and quiet place to live.

Adelaide is easy to get around and it's a small city close to the beach and wineries, Just that it's boring!!!!!!!! Adeladians dont wont change, they dont like progress, so if your an old pensioner who like the slow, quiet life come here otherwise go to Melbourne or Sydney.

HI SOL,SO AM I IN THE NEXT 6 MONTHS,Im in the same boat,so we can correspond if you like.

it depends on what kind of person you are and how old you are. if you're young and need excitement and fun things to do, then adelaide isnt the city for you. but if you like relaxation, peace, and just mates getting together and hitting a pub or something to just catch up, then adelaide might be the city for you.
adelaide is really quite, and the only thing that its got going for them is that it has a lot of restaurants, cafes, pubs etc.
there is no amusement parks or anything to entertain the young kids and adults. i've lived in adelaide all my life and when i went to visit sydney and melbourne, i could really notice the difference between it and adelaide.
sydney and melb have more of an upbeat atmosphere. more activity, whereas adelaide is very...subdued..
adelaide is mostly known as the city for the elderly, because of it's quietness. most of the young people like to leave adelaide and move interstate to bigger and more exciting cities..
