Seriously thinking about emigrating to Adelaide?

I've heard there are good and bad suburbs there
What is the best place to live or the worst

We are a couple in our 40's all our children are grown up so we wont have to worry about schools.

I work in construction, my wife is a drug and alcohol abuse worker,
Will we find work there
Plus any other info you might have, Thanks

Plenty of work in Australia for tradesmen.

See about immigrating to South Australia here http://www.immigration.sa.gov.au/site/in... Tells you about the housing, education and skilled workers needed...

http://bluecollar.com.au is a job website

Are you in the UK? there is an Expo coming up soon in your area - they will help you with getting a job and living in Australia http://www.expo-australia.com

http://www.workingin-australia.com website also has info on skilled workers needed, visa info etc.....

I have never lived in Adelaide so can't comment on bad and good living areas, sorry. I am in Queensland. There is PLENTY of construction jobs in Cairns, Qld and Perth, WA. A real building boom.

I assume you're from the UK....

The first thing to remember is that Australia is a different culture to the UK. A lot of people think that Australia is Britain with sunshine, and they get a shock when they arrive.

Apologies if you already know this. Thought I'd mention it just in case.

I recently went to Adelaide on holiday and found it a very comfortable and less intimidating place. Compared with the rest of Australia, there are less Australian accents since there is a lot of ex-pats here.

Whilst on my Australia trip, I met up with some people from the UK who emigrated to Melbourne five years ago. They had their challenges for the first few years but have now settled down very well. They said that getting anything done in Australia is very slow, especially when trades-people are involved - this is due to a shortage.

I also met with some relatives who emigrated to Adelaide with their children about the same time. They absolutely love it. I guess it really boils down to what you want, and the type of people you are.

Sorry, I don't know what the good and bad places are.

Hi Adelaide is fantastic, famous as the festival state with the Fringe Festival starting next week, arts festivals, buskers festival, film festival and 100 other festivals, the rest of the year it is a beautiful quite state.
The best suburbs are the eastern subs within Burnside, Campbelltown, Athelstone etc. Also areas like Blackwood, Hawthorndene, or Glenelge.
The worst areas are up north - Salisbury & Elizabeth etc.
check out www.realestate.com.au

Stacks of work in construction.
Safe

Hi Dave

I lived in Adelaide for 5 years and came back to the UK 2 yeas ago.

As far as suberbs go, its the same as anywhere really, there are good and bad areas.

I def wouldnt stay in Elizabeth or Salsbury as they are not the best areas.
I lived in Rostrevor, Magil and Norwood................all great areas to live in

As for jobs...........well u wont have any probs getting a job in construction and ur wife will prob find it easy too.

Go for it!! I was never skint when i lived overr there. We ate out most nights, had a ball and loved my life over there so much i am going back and staying there for good.

if u need anymore info just get in contact with me through this......send me a message and i will get back to u.

Agree with all but sugest you rent and find the place that suits you. I have a block at Salisbury Heights of 2000m2 that I really enjoy with agreat community. Depends on what you are looking for
