What is the cost of living like in Algeria....?

Are things expensive ...I mean the basic necessities of life like food , shelter & clothing ...?

I don't agree with the answer above.
On the point of view of Algerian salaries, everything is expensive. It dependshow much you make, if you are going to make what the average Algerian makes, then the cosdt of living is one of the highest in the Middle East:/North African region. And no, not everybody builds houses, the poverty rate is extremely high.

accepteble and not really expansive
most of algerians live a comfortable life
they all buid their own houses only few or let say 20% rent appartemnts the other all houses and the houses of a good style lot of villas
and most of Algerians too have cars maybe two cars in one house
that means they can consume and use their money for the necessitie of life like food clothing and also save to buy complementary needs like cars and other stuff

gas and electricity &water bills and telephone take the biggest part in of fees but clothes and shelter are very acceptable

we all have vacatioons and voyages in summer
able to walk hand in hand with modernity and advanced life

of course like all the countrie sin the world there is a consederable rate of poverty in the society and there is an economic crisis that happend from time to time
but i wanted to give information about the general way of living and the economic and social conditionsjust to show that life in Algeria is quit acceptable modern and easy too
