Hi,DONT SEND A PENNY!!! It is very easy to get residency in Spain if you are British. First register at the town hall with your passport and proof of where you are living. Next you go to the police station and apply for a NIF number that's like our national insurance number. Once you have these apply for residency. It can take sometimes take a while like anywhere when it comes to officialdom! You can basically stay in Spain for as long as you want, working or not. As you are married to a Spaniard the process should be much easier and you will have someone on hand to help with translation, though most of the forms are in several languages.Hope you find this info useful, good luck:-)
P.S most towns run free courses to learn Spanish, well worth looking into they are great fun and you will meet loads of people in the same situation as yourself

You should ask him for some references (names, numbers, and email addresses) of other people he has helped before you send him any money.

Have you read up on how to get Spanish Residency? You might not even need him:

Contact the Spanish embassy to find out the rules too. I would not send him a cent.
