Anyone been to Seville in the summer?

Is it really as hot as everyone says? Will I be miserable If I spend the month of july there? Is it dry heat or humidty? Any info. is great...thanks

I went there in June 2001.....It was "hot" but not super hot that you couldn't stand it. I was in Austria during the European Heat wave of 2003 and that was by far worse.

Spain has a dry heat, so the Temp. might be high but it won't feal nearly as bad as it is.

Bring shorts, tank tops and nice sunskirts

Seville is beautiful but in July you're looking at temperatures of around 45 degrees Celsius. It is quite arid as most of Andalucia is desert-like. On the plus side though it has a number of parks, gardens, cathedrals, and palaces that provide a lot of shade and relief. La calle Sierpes, which is great for shopping by the way, has these huge canvases hanging from the buildings which keep things cool. The plaza near La Giralda (gothic cathedral) and the Real Alcazar (old palace) has some really good tapas places where you can also cool off with a cerveza (beer).
I recommend that you take the city hop-on, hop-off tour first thing (I think it's about 25 euros - not sure anymore as it has been 7 yrs)...you'll find the stop near the bull-fighting arena right off the Guadalquivir (Sp?) river.
Also be very careful going into the Jewish quarter...Streets are very narrow and ripe for pick-pocketing. Be very suspicious of any circling Vespas or motorcycles that look as if they are lost....most likely they are looking to lift your wallet.
I hope you enjoy Andalusia - home of tapas and flamenco.

I was there last July and I was sure I was going to pass out!!!
It is like being in a sauna. You breathe warm air, you feel your skin burn.... It is a really beautiful city so if you can't go any other time, you should still go...just do the whole site seeing things early in the morning and later in the evening. Make sure your hostel/hotel has AC and that you drink lots of water :)

You may get dry and hot ..... but it is Seville !! Oya.

Buy some cold water and chill out with the great architecture, culture and a getaway to the beach. OK Spain is the official website for Tourism [ link below ] and Cheaperthanhotels - Seville will reveal some special accommodation offers from hotels in the district which you may want to take a vacation at

I've enclosed some links to help whet your appetite

Good luck and live Seville !!

yes it is hot, I went in July last year.....we did a lot of walking, and I remember it being very hot temp, but I do not remember being hot like miserable sweaty...it was very nice....there is almost no humidity....

yeah it is really hot, but you will love it, you wont be miserable, its ace!!!

everyone will be sweating just as much as you, so dont worry about it

Yes, it's hot. I was in Seville in line at La Mesquite (aka La Catedral), and it was 103 degrees that day. The shade is your friend.

There is a water park in one of the nearby suburbs. I can't quite remember the name, but it's a god sent. An extremely nice Spaniard led us to it. I think it's called Guadalpark, or something like it. But this was like 5-6 years ago.
