Anyone been to Seville in the summer? |
Is it really as hot as everyone says? Will I be miserable If I spend the month of july there? Is it dry heat or humidty? Any info. is great...thanks I went there in June 2001.....It was "hot" but not super hot that you couldn't stand it. I was in Austria during the European Heat wave of 2003 and that was by far worse. Seville is beautiful but in July you're looking at temperatures of around 45 degrees Celsius. It is quite arid as most of Andalucia is desert-like. On the plus side though it has a number of parks, gardens, cathedrals, and palaces that provide a lot of shade and relief. La calle Sierpes, which is great for shopping by the way, has these huge canvases hanging from the buildings which keep things cool. The plaza near La Giralda (gothic cathedral) and the Real Alcazar (old palace) has some really good tapas places where you can also cool off with a cerveza (beer). I was there last July and I was sure I was going to pass out!!! You may get dry and hot ..... but it is Seville !! Oya. yes it is hot, I went in July last year.....we did a lot of walking, and I remember it being very hot temp, but I do not remember being hot like miserable sweaty...it was very nice....there is almost no humidity.... yeah it is really hot, but you will love it, you wont be miserable, its ace!!! Yes, it's hot. I was in Seville in line at La Mesquite (aka La Catedral), and it was 103 degrees that day. The shade is your friend. |
