I am looking to move to Auckland and i just wanted to find out where is the best place to live within auckland

We are preferably looking for a suburb in auckland close to the sea.

The alot of Auckland is on an isthmus with the narrowest part being about 2kms wide between the east and west coast. Some of the nicer beaches are in the Eastern Suburbs (Orakei, Mission Bay, Kohimarama & St Heliers) extending further around to Howick, Mellons Bay etc.

I lived in Kohimarama and took the bus into the City for work. Usually took around 30 minutes (that was a few years ago) but as there are few traffic lights, there's not usually much of a holdup. Areas like Remuera and Meadowbank are relatively close to the beach. Some northern slopes houses/apartments have wonderful harbour views.

The West coast beaches aren't so nice, but if you're into surfing Piha is wonderful. But about an hour or so from the City.

The North Shore also has wonderful beaches and seaside areas. My favourite being Devonport. Other areas are Takapuna, East Coast Bays (about 10 beaches). If you're working in the City the traffic is usually horrendous over the harbour bridge. Should be easier to get a ferry.

Waiheki Island maybe a place to check out. The Fastcat takes about 35 mins trip one-way to downtown Auckland.

it really depends on your income and how far away from the city you want to be

i would say a place like lynfield or remuera for the upper class type of living or just for a middle class lifestyle i would suggest mt albert or blockhouse bay

There is sea all around Akl.so that's not a problem.in regards to house prices generally south is where the cheep houses are, north are generally expensive, east has rich areas like botany downs and cheep houses out east are in east tamaki, west is more expensive than south and cheaper than the north shore and town is like any town in any city(full of apartments).that's a rough guide anyway.good luck

I like takapuna on the north shore
