I found my soulmate but she lives far away.?

I tried the dating scene here; it wasn't for me. I can get a lot of dates and more, but well I never found the person who can caress my soul or keep me intellectually. To my surprise, I found someone absolutely amazing through the internet. We shared photos, numbers, and we speak to each other everyday about everything. We've been speaking for at least 5 months now.

I decided to take a shot and try to date her. I am planning on moving to New Zealand. I renewed my passport and began saving; I have barely any college loans (<1000) and no cc balance. I am hoping to see her by October - November 2008. I am wondering, what is the best approach to finding an entry-point into NZ? I am looking at a working holiday visa which will enable me to stay, look for a job, and work up to a year with the prospect of getting a work visa or a residency. Is this possible? Is there a better approach to me moving over there? I really need help on this... it's at times overwhelming.

It's really neat that you have found someone nice through the internet. Sometimes it happens that way.

So does this mean that you are 'just friends' currently?

I think you need to provide more information.

It sounds like you have found someone special, but you neglect to say what her feeling are towards you. Have you talked to her about moving to NZ? Does she want you to move? How serious is this relationship? It is reciprocal?

I don't want to sound mean, but if she doesn't feel the same about you then by moving to NZ you might appear to be overbearing.

For example, I wouldn't want some guy to move over here just to date me. That would put a lot of pressure on me.

It's a big step to move halfway around the world. I wouldn't want to be the cause of something like that.

What if it is only friendship? Then I would feel guilty for the time and money you spent to get here. I'd feel obliged to be nice and spend some time with you.

It sounds as if you should take things slowly. Maybe you should do as others suggested and come for a short visit.

Depending on your nationality, you can visit for 3 months (unless you are a British or Australian citizen).
Then, if things work out, you have all kinds of options. You can leave for a brief time and come back for another 3 months, or you could apply for residency. Do you have a degree or any skills that would enable you to get a job readily?

You need to first of all find out how this other person feels about you coming to NZ to visit her. As long as you are both interested in getting together, there shouldn't be a problem.

I did the same thing...She lives in San Francisco, I live in Portland Oregon. She finally sent me some pix. She looks like a cros between LeBron James, and Barack Obama. Nightmare.

Have you met yet? I'd suggest you meet first before you plan to move. Could she save some money and meet you somewhere?

Alternatively, can you get a job somewhere together? Perhaps on a cruise ship?

Is it possible that you just visit her and see how that is? It's a huge move just to date a person. Keep it as simple as possible unless you plan on going there to live regardless if things work out with her or not.

Wow! You are thinking of making a big change in your life from only talking to someone on the internet??? You could be in for a huge disappointment. She may be all that she says she is, but-----she might not! Many people have been fooled.

You need to meet this woman and see what she is like. Take a vacation and go visit her. You have to realize that YOU might not be all she thinks you are either! If everything clicks with both of you, then you could start to think of moving there.

The airport would be the best way to enter the country. Yes it is possible for you to obtain a working holiday visa for up to 12 months. Depending on which country you live in now (as you have not stated) will determine the criteria for entering New Zealand.

Click on the appropriate one and follow the requirements.
