Relocating to Austin in January...what is the weather like around that time?

I know summers will be hot and humid...just want to know how cold it does get and how long it lasts...I'm moving from Phoenix, so the "cold" weather doesn't last too long...lol

We have weather with multiple personalty disorder here in Texas! You never know what it's going to be like. Typically it is cold and rainy in January and February. Good luck!

It's variable. You can wear shorts today, tonight might be cold with drizzle, but don't worry you'll be back in shorts by tomorrow. In January the day time temp is anywhere between 55 - 75. The nights get chilly.

The normal highs for January are the low sixties and the lows are in the 40s. But we do get quite a few days where it gets into the 70s. We get our share of cold fronts also, which usually put high temps into the 40s, but this only lasts for 3-4 days for each front before it gets back to normal. The cold snaps probably last about the same amount of time you are used to in Phoenix.

Nightime temps are probably similar to Phoenix, but if it is cloudy, the nights are a bit warmer since the cloud cover holds in some of the daytime heat. We have more cloudy nights than you do because we get more moisture from the Gulf. I don't think you will have to alter your wardrobe any because of your move.

Summers are hot but rarely humid...think Houston for that. In January/February it gets colder at night, but gets over it by noon. You won't need a coat there either, but at least a heavy sweater or jacket. Freezing rain/snowflakes paralyze the town!
