Where to go in Central Texas?

I'm looking for a nice little 2 or 3 day vacation out somewhere in the middle of Texas. I live in Austin, so I'm looking to get away from it. Does anyone have any idea where a good place to go would be? =]

Post - It's a road trip with my father, so about 50-200 miles plus or minus a few, with a little class.

Thanks!

mmuscs is right, go to Waco and the Texas Rangers Museum. A short visit is all you will need, if you spend too much time in Waco you will go into a deep depression. Waco fits your specs as it has little class.

To the Texas Ranger Museum and Hall of Fame in Waco.

Fredericksburg or other places in the hill country are nice. San Antonio is also close and has a lot of stuff to do/see.

If you're into the outdoors and hiking try Enchanted Rock in Llano. There is also an old train the rune between Palestine and Rusk. Sometimes they have "who done it" mystery trips. I'm not sure of the web site, but you should be able to get the info through the Chamber of Commerce of either city. Have a great visit!

i have no idea because it takes
2 and 1/2 days to drive across the state of texas
