how are politics? do i have to be a closet liberal? a closet bisexual?

thanks

yeah really helpful, i like beer, go chug one and get out of my sight lol

move there and stay there a while and then ask yourself " hmm is austin right for me? ". if the answer is yes... then its right for you... if the answeris no... then austin is not right for you. ..am i the only one who finds this answer way to obvious?

It is flippin' hot in the summer. Even in Sept it get to the 90s. Great city though, lots of stuff to do, GREAT music scene, and it's a liberal oasis in the middle of conservative Texas. Oh, and it's a big college town too.

As far as the job market.... you might try to get a job before moving down here a BA in phychology is good for a waitress job
(not a good one...for that you would need a PHD. ). get a teaching certificate on top of that and you would be good to go.
I have been here since 69 and love it, cost of living has gone through the roof and the cockroaches are three inches long and fly. As far as being a liberal well Travis county is a blue island in a red state as far as being a bisexual? well folks here prefer you sit on one side of a fence but are more accepting here then anywhere I have been.
The gay community is strong here.
Barton Springs is a place to go that and Sam's BBQ on east 12th you do those two things you will have seen a lot in between.

Are you liberal? Bisexual? If yes, then Austin is right for you.

There is a conservative minority here. And the liberals are so "open-minded" that they won't even listen to them. I'm serious-- I've gotten into verbal arguments with people while trying to get them to understand my viewpoints, but they shut me up quickly. So much for being liberal and open-minded. Oh, and they claim to be progressive but yet shun progress.

I know conservatism has its hypocritical elements, too. It's just that liberalism is King in Austin, so that's what I think of first. So please don't fire back at me (this isn't the political forum).

All politics aside, Austin is a cool city. I recommend it to everyone I can. I am in college right now and would hate to leave when I graduate. Like you, I'm hoping to find a job here after graduation. Like someone else on here said, it's best to line up a job first before committing to a move. Every year, there are thousands of fresh graduates who also don't want to leave Austin. As far as weather, it doesn't even compare to Wisconsin. We are hot or comfortable all year. There are always a few days of ice, but that means we all stay home because they shut everything down (no joke).

It's a great time to visit. Today, Dec 2, the high was 84 with partly cloudy skies. Come for a visit, you'll love it.

Word to Jacks answer. Here answer these questions to know if its right for you.
1) Do you think your liberal but really just close minded to any ideas not your own?
2)Even though you consider yourself progressive are you afraid of minorities and consider where they live to have a lot of crime?
3)Do you shun people who dont eat organic?
4)Do you shun people who go to Walmart?
5)Do you think your better than others cause you have a Mac?

If you answered yes to most of these you'll fit right in. If not just enjoy the weather and prepare to be assulted by "liberal" ******* who think they are better than you. Other than that its great.
