Where can i go to see/look at christmas lights in the austin area?

i'm new to the area and have no idea where to take my kids to see christmas lights. it's a yearly tradition that we do and i don't even know where to look! in the metroplex there were dozens of neighborhoods that you could drive through and enjoy the view. i know that that has to exist down here as well.... looking in the round rock - cedar park - austin area. thanks in advance!

I'm not sure about exact neighborhoods (I know there are some, but I can't remember where at the moment).

You should also check out the Trail of Lights in Zilker Park. The trail is a mile long and has many displays and is put on by the city of Austin. It attracts hundreds of thousands of people every year. Last year it had an estimated 375,000 visitors.
Park your car at the state garages (14th and Trinity ...small fee involved) and take the shuttle. The shuttle runs constantly (literally one lined up after the other) and it only costs a dollar or two. There's hardly any parking at the park or in the area. It's just much simpler to park at the state garages, where you don't have to wait for a parking spot, then just ride the rest of the way. http://www.ci.austin.tx.us/tol/
It is open from tonight to the 23rd.

You should really check out the Trail of Lights! My parents took me every year since I was a baby...it's so magical! Try to go during the week if you can, there will be fewer people there and make sure you have money for parking - you're going to have to wait to get in, sometimes up to 30 minutes to park, but it is so worth it! Spinning under the tree is tradition!

Also, watch the news, they usually show pictures of cool houses lit up, then you can go see them at night. Last year someone in my grandmother's neighborhood in Cedar Park went all out, with lights that were in sync with the music you tuned your radio to. It's the neighborhood across from milburn park, but I can't remember what it's called, I haven't been there in a year!

The Trail of Lights at Zilker is great!!

Trail of lights is pretty good.

take a Thermos of hot chocolate or stand in line to pay through the nose for a thimble full.

the bon fire is my favorite part.

Zilker park has the Tail of Lights....it's fantastic

The Trail of Lights of course but the best and coolest place is 37th St where the whole street takes part in decorating (they make it like a fun house) and the kids will love it! You get the most out of it by finding a parking place and walking through the yards. It is amazing and they have been doing this every year (most of the citizens on the street - there are a few who don't participate). It is one of the most interactive Christmas lights displays I've ever seen.

Zilker park!! Definately, they have many fun things to do there. including millions of lights. It's worth it.
