Is Stubb's BBQ a good place to see a show?

Is Stubb's BBQ a good place to see a show?

I don't like it as much as the Backyard...but it's not a bad place. Better than Zilker Park for a concert!

Stubb's BBQ is a great place to see a show....

It is an old Austin venue with a great outdoor stage and space. There are a lot of wonderful oak trees and the ground gently slopes upward towards the back...so you can see the stage from fairly far away. They get a lot of great bands there and I think that the sound quality is very good. It is large enough for a good crowd...but, small enough that it feels a bit more intimate/personal and you can find a great spot without using serious muscle. The indoors has a fun rustic feel and pretty decent bbq if you need to get a bite to eat. They have plenty of toilets set up for shows(I have never stood in line for too long there...therefore you miss less music and can drink more beer without the fear of the bathroom line). The beer lines can be pretty long, as with anywhere...so buy more than one at a time.

It is located in the heart of Austin's downtown scene on Red River.... the same street as many great Austin bars, like Club Deville with it's great outdoor patio and towering limestone walls. So, after the show, which generally ends fairly early, you don't have to walk far to carry on the festivities.

This central location also makes it easy to cab it, so that you don't have to worry about driving or leaving your car somewhere.

It is a fun and authentic Austin venue and I would definitely recommend seeing a show there.

Have a great time!

Cheapest would be hitch hiking, but I would not suggest you actually try it. So I would guess the bus would be next. Then a drive. Then an airplane.
