No, San Marcos is south of Austin on IH-35 about 30 minutes. It is near New Braunfels and also San Antonio. San Marcos and New Braunfels are both good river rafting towns and you are also close to the Verizon Amphitheatre for concerts. It is a beautiful area and you should enjoy it.
