What is the weather like year round in Austin?

What is the weather like year round in Austin?

Generally, good weather. Less humid than the Gulf coast, less variable than Dallas or OKC.

Spring - Great. Can be rainy, but generally mild and pleasant. Warm days and cool nights. Starts in Feb, and lasts through May.

Summer - Can be hot and dry, around of 100 degrees during the day and 80s at night.

Fall - The hot weather breaks in October and we have nice weather into Dec. Like the Spring, it is very mild, with warm days and cool nights.

Winter - Very variable. It can be 80 one day, and 40 the next. More days than not are very nice, 70-ish for a high, sunny, 50ish at night. Occational ice storms (1-2 a year) and rare snow fall (every few years).

Well, it can get hotter'n hades in summer and is definitely coat weather at times in winter. But it RARELY snows. We also have droughts (no rain for prolonged period) and deluges (where driving in the rain is very dangerous due to flooding creeks).

But Austin is just a great little town (not so little anymore) and the weather is fine most of the time. It helps a lot if you like warm weather the best. Austin is the pearl of Texas. You will rarely find anyone who has lived there that did not love it. Gayle

I have visited Austin , It's a great place to vacation

Well, I agree with Gayle P about Austin being a the "pearl" of Texas. It does have wonderful weather most of the year. I grew up in Austin and lived there for 20 years. So, here is the break down:

Summer: Let's get this out of the way as it is definitely the worst season to be in Austin. Summers are hot...starting in May, you will start to get some days in the 90's(F). June is a smattering of highs in the 80's and 90's. Then, by July it stays very hot! Days are in the 90's and nights are in the 80's or 70's. Sometimes it gets in the triple digits. There is hardly any rain at all..unless you get a summer thunderstorm. This heat lasts through August and a some of September. Then it starts to cool down again. I have lived through many of these summers and you get used to it. There are a lot of swimming holes and rivers to cool off in...and don't miss Barton Springs Pool which is 68degrees and cold, year round...it will get you through the season!

Fall: Fall is very nice. It is one of my favorite seasons in Austin. The days are sunny and warm,,,turning to cool as October wears on and the nights are crisp. You get some rain, but, mostly wonderful weather.

Winter: This is a funny season. You will have weeks where it can freeze or hover right around freezing(occasionally it will get in the 20's or snow...but RARELY). Then you will have weeks where it will be in the 70's for a couple of days. Generally the highs are in the 50's and 60's and 40's or 50's at night. You will have rainy weeks, but, a lot of sunshine as well.

Spring: Most people will agree that this is Austin's best season. Everything gets really green and everyone is outside, running, biking, swimming, and enjoying the outdoors.Starting mid-March, days are sunny and warm...70's during the day and 60's at night...and then as I said, creeping into May you will get 80's and an occasional 90's. This is when there is tons of water flowing as you will get some heavy rains. It makes for fun water activities.

I now live in California, and the climate here is great....but, I loved the weather in Austin. It allows you to get out a lot and frequently have sun on your face.

Hope this helps!

We have weather with multiple personality disorder. You never know what you are gonna get! Typically it's cold in January and February with spurts of warmth. March and April who the hell knows cuz it goes back and forth a lot. May thru September it's hotter than hell. Ocober thru December it goes back to who the hell knows.

- hot in the summer (100+ degrees)
- awesome in the spring (65 - 80 degrees)
- only gets coat-wearing cold in January and February (30 - 45 degrees at most)
- pleasant in the fall (stays warm through late October/early November)
