seriouse anwsers only pleasee

UT-Austin is not an easy school to get into from out of state. However, you are starting to prepare early...and I commend you for that!

You have four years to work on your GPA and round out your resume. Get involved in a sport and a volunteer organization or a club at school. Find one that you like and stick to it. It looks better to have dedicated several years to one cause than several months to dozens. More than anything, though, UT will look at your grades and (unfortunately) your SAT score. So, work hard! You can do it if you put your will to it. And, take a SAT prep. course, so that you can optimize your score when the time comes.

I think that you can do this if you really want to...and it sounds like you have determination. If for some reason you don't. You could always transfer after a year somewhere else...as long as you kept your grades up there. There is MUCH less competition for transfer students than there is for incoming freshman.

Another thing that some people do who don't have the grades at first to get into UT is attend classes at ACC(Austin Community College). It is actually a very good community college and you could get your GPA up. UT often accepts transfers in from ACC. Plus, by living in Austin for a year you could get resident status and perhaps not pay out of state tuition. Plus, you would be in Austin and meeting people.

Good luck to you. You can do it!

i'm a major longhorn fan, btw.

but colleges look for grades and accomplishments,
so get involved in clubs in school, and keep your grades up, high.

Well since you are just starting high school, you are gonna have to get your grades way up, do great on the SAT, take plenty of honors/AP classes, and have some good extra-curricular activities. It's gonna be tough to get in from out of state, plus a lot more expensive. Good luck though.

Go to Texas A&M...it's been around longer than tu....oh, and it's better...

If you have 4 years left, then you still have your WHOLE highschool time to put your grades in. AP classes help, but not that much. The more activities you get involved in will help more. Join clubs and work with them. Also you should study hard for the SAT take it early so you can take it many times. Your essays, you need to write two, may be the most important easy part you can work on constantly. Also it depends what department you apply to at UT. Fine arts is a good back door, as you stand a better chance to get in. It works out cause I happen to like art history, but I've seen a lot of people get into this school then transfer to whatever program/school they really wanted. Just do your research like you are now and you will be fine.
