Are their any places to live close to Austin?

I am trying to rent a place close to Austin where my job is. I have a few issues that is keeping me from being able to live in the city itself. I need to be there by the 1st of Feb as my job starts shortly after. I do not drive and need to live in a city where there are buses to take me their. I also have misdemeanors that is also making it a bit difficult. Do you have any answers for me? I need cities that nearby, also, names of people you may know that are renting or apt buildings that do accept ppl with these issues.

Austin has a pretty limited public transportation system, unfortunately. And there is no public transportation in most of the surrounding suburbs. Take a look at capmetro.org and check out the maps and schedules to see where the bus travels and it will give you a good indication of where to look for apartments.
If getting a car is an option, it would probably be worth looking into. I tried to not have to get a car when I first moved to Austin, but I quickly found it was pretty much a necessity, unfortunately.

There are ALOT of condos and apartments downtown.

Well, if you can't live in the city itself for various reasons, you also want to avoid going north and staying out of Williamson County. South there is Buda, Kyle, Manor, Elgin and probably a lot more I am drawing a blank on. However, buses do run from Leander and Cedar Park which are north of Austin and I don't know about any of the south cities. As far as apartments, you can always check Craigslist or post on Craigslist exactly where and what you want. Sorry I can't be of more help.

Try the Buda/Kyle area.
Great housing at affordable prices in the area, tons of new subdivisions and generally a great area.
