Compared to California and New Jersey: Is Texas a primitive state?

I mean does Texas lack the luxuries found in Cali and NYC?

Does the level of education in Texas match that of these states?

Do the people dress well in Texas?

Please explain...

Texas is not the third world.

Several cities, including Austin, Dallas, and Houston, have large high tech industries. Remember that Dell computers is based in Austin, one of the largest computer manufacturers in the USA.

Primary and secondary education (K through 12) are comparable to anywhere else in the USA, and better in some cases, depending on the area. Also note, while 3 Texas cities make the list of the lowest literacy rates (San Antonio, Corpus Christi, El Paso), so do three California cities (Long Beach, Santa Ana, Fresno). In terms of universities, The University of Texas, Texas A&M, SMU, and several other universities in Texas are well respected and rank well on national standards (depending on the different fields).

I have spent a lot of time in California and in Texas, and I much prefer Texas. And, I have NO interest in Jersey.

I reckon you mean that since we ride horses everywhere and don't drive them cars like y'all in Jersey and California, you'n think we are the primitive type. Well just come see! Pretty soon, we will get one of the dern telephone contraptions. There's a-going to be one in the diner AND the courthouse. My lands, I recon it will be the best thing since...well, I don't know-- we don't slice bread here.

I think Jack's sarcastic diatribe should tell you that we Texans are more intelligent than you give us credit for. That was a totally ignorant question. Yes, of course we have luxuries, some of the richest people in the country are here. As far as primitive, I would actually call the stereotypical hotheaded NY'er the primitive one.
