License Plate at the front of vehicle required in Austin, TX?

Just yesterday a police stopped me for not having L.P. at the front. I apologize and said that I just moved from Tennessee where only 1 LP is provided and to be placed at the rear.
Although I was only given a warning I feel it was not fair stopping me because here in Austin, I notice about 1 out of 10 cars do not have LP at the front!!!.. So I thought is it not required.. I hope this is an eyeopener to Austin police!

Yes, it's required in Texas. Also, don't speed in TX. They are known for stopping people. They made me get out (on a busy highway at night) to show me that my license plate light was out. They can be nice. Sometimes.

When you registered your vehicle in Texas they provided you with two license plates, one for the front and one for the back. Two plates are required by the State of Texas, not the City of Austin.

Did it ever cross your mind why they gave you 2 plates?
