Austin, TX Bars? |
Hey, I'm going down to Austin, TX with my mom and we were wondering since I'm only 18 will I be allowed in some of the bars on 6th Street? Generally where I'm from 18 year olds can get in, they just can't drink. I was just wondering if I should be prepared to be carded as soon as I try to walk in, or if it's pretty laid back as long as I don't order any drinks. Any info would help. Thanks! :) You won't be able to get into any bars, as they are really trying to cut down on underage drinking downtown. However, since you will be with your parents, you should have no trouble getting into a fun restaurant (w/bar) atmosphere, and there are plenty to choose from. I don't imagine you'll have any luck on 6th Street. Most of these bars are pretty busy and it would be too much of a hassle for them to manage carding people at the bar rather than at the door. can't add to jason, he's right on the money... i live in temple..go now and then I used to live there, and I would go every weekend, I used a fake ID that said I was like 30 looked barely anything like me, and they didnt care, just have to know which ones to go to. such as chuggin munkey most likely wont let you . but theres a little whole in the wall right at the beg of the strip of bars with no name, just a bouncer outside and you walk up the stairs to the bar, theyll let you in there. however there are also 21 and under clubs around 4th I think it is... Wow, have things changed! When I came in the early 70s I could bring my baby or child in with me (of course that was Armadillo WHQ) - that shocked the hell out of me but what the hey. I imagine you will be carded and hand stamped that you are underage so no one will serve you. You should not have any problems if you are with your mother. |
