SXSW in austin, texas?

I was thinking about going to SXSW this year in Austin, Texas (2008) and I was wondering if anyone knows about how much the tickets genearlly run.

Unfortunately, you can no longer by individual tickets for specific shows; you have to purchase a badge.

Go to sxsw.com to register - the platinum badge ($950) gets you in to all of events, and the music badge ($600) covers all of the music venues.

It is really sad how much it has gone up - they market it to out-of-state/out-of-country tourists. When I first moved to Austin, you could pay $5 to get into any music venue (without a badge).

You CAN buy the badge which is for sure to get you into any of the music events no matter what. But for half the price, cheaper if your fast when they come out, you CAN also get a wristband which is almost the same except you might need to show up a little earlier to ensure entry, but you more than likely gonna get in. Buying tickets to individual events as mentioned above is the worst idea and unless you are well versed in the ways of line cutting and just getting lucky this way will leave you missing many of the acts you want to see most. I would just say get a wristband, and dont be a jerkoff while your visting. Because that seems to be a reoccuring theme lately with people coming in for SXSW.
