What are the pro's and con's of living in Austin, Texas? |
Provided that you're a university professor? Is the traffic congested? Is Austin a safe place to live? Are the people friendly? Do they have good restaurants? Austin is a great place to live, especially if its in the 1970s, but its tolerable now. The traffic is horrendous all the time. Austin is fairly safe, not like it was, but I still leave all my windows open during the warm weather and have never had any problems. The people are very friendly here and we have restaurants galore to suit whatever you are craving at the time. The lakes are great for swimming or boating. I think Austin is pretty terrific. I came from Boston and I miss the east coast and the Atlantic Ocean but I'm still here. It's a pretty laid back city compared to Boston and Chicago. You'll really like it here and the music scene is the best there is from the symphony to popular acts to local favorites like the blues at Antones. I don't think you can find a better place to live. The prices are high but you can find a decent place to live if you're in the right place at the right time. I bought my house for $79,000 in 2000 and its 2 bedroom and stays cool all summer so I don't use the AC and don't have high electric bills. If you balance the pros and cons - the pros definitely win. Well one is the heat thats bad. The good is all the fun at the waterparks its a great place for kids! but another bad thing is the tornadoes! my cuz got his house blown over!!! |
