Which is more liberal? Houston or Austin Texas?

Which area do you think is more open minded to change?

I grew up in Houston and lived in Austin for a long time. Austin is definitely more liberal than Houston. There are many more democrats in Austin. Houston is filled with old money Republicans. Nothing wrong with either one, it's just a fact. Austin is much more into change than Houston. Besides the change in freeways :) They've been changing those for years in HOuston...will I10 ever be done? :)

Austin tends to be more liberal.

I've heard from Texans that Austin is more liberal than Houston.

Definetly Austin. It seems that's where all the hippies from the 60's and 70's went to to congregate.

Austin is infested with the maggot Liberals

Austin is more liberal. If I remember correctly, in the last election, Travis county (which includes Austin) was the only "blue" county in the state.

Austin overall with the University is much more liberal, just be carefull there as sections of the city that are very very conservative usually associated with the Government Service area.

Austin, no doubt.

By far Austin without a doubt.

Keep Austin weird!

Um, "liberal" does not mean open minded to change, when it comes to politics. "Liberal" politically means conforming to speech codes and any things they want you to think. Did Republicans create political correctness or moral relativism? No. Which side denies the other the right to speak? The left. (Don't believe me? When is the last time a liberal speaker was prohibited from speaking by conservatives? On the other hand, see the absolute hatred and vileness (and acts of vandalism) that erupts if say, Ann Coulter or David Horowitz goes to a college campus.)

If you mean, which city is more left wing? Austin by far, although it is surrounded by conservative bastions (Williamson County, for example). Houston has it's own breed of lefty, the inner looper, while the surrounding areas are far more conservative.Any inner city is going to be more left wing, because they are the beneficiaries of more government service (or they are of the political mindset that this is the job of government, to dole out "stuff").

As far as being more open to change, hard to tell.

austin is more liberal. but from what i have seen change is not an easy thing in austin. sure, they like the "weird" that they have, but that does not equate to change. they are just like other cities and change all depends on what it is you are wanting to change.
