Where in texas is it safe to raise children?

Just curious of where in texas is pretty safe to raise children? Good schools, good churches, fun activities, good restaurants, lower crime, and if a small town..near a big city.

You have just described Austin, TX.

Safety/Crime - As far as cities go, Austin is one of the safest for its size. You can go to just about any part of Austin and feel safe/secure. Like any city, there are a few undesirable spots that you would want to avoid late a night (Northeast, Far East, and Southeast), but Austin provides a very safe community overall. The crime rate is also very low compared to other metropolitan areas.

Schools - We have great schools; plus, you are not confined by school zones. Austin is unique in that families can choose where to send there kids (no matter where they reside) through the transfer enrollment program. Additionally, Austin is also a highly-educated yet laid back and open-minded population, and kids can really benefit from picking up on that.

Churches - Whether Catholic, Methodist, Jewish, Baptist, Episcopalian, or Presbyterian, there are plenty of nice family-oriented churches and synagogues in town.

Fun Activities - Austin is a big 'outdoorsy' town. From parks and swimming holes to festivals and concerts, there is always soemthing interesting going on around town. There are also great museums and art exhibits, good music venues, and nice/well-stocked libraries.

Good restaurants - Austin has the highest ratio of restaurants to citizens in the United States. Luckily, most of them are good old mom and pop establishments, not national chains. From traditonal mexican and authentic chinese to mouthwatering steaks and bbq, the variety of really good restaurants simply can't be matched.

Area attractions - San Antonio is only 60 miles south, Dallas is only a few hours north, and Houston is just a couple of hours to the east - so you are centrally located to access all of Texas' major points of interest. Also, there are some great communities in the beautiful Texas Hill Country that are just minutes away (Kerrvillle, Fredericksburg, Llano, etc.).

I hope this is helpful; good luck to you and your family on your potential move!

Good schools, good restaurants and Texas are mutually exclusive.

Houston is a great city to raise a family. Great schools. Nice neighborhoods. Museums, Nasa, close to the beach! Kids love it

Canyon, Texas is a really nice place. I am going to try living there someday!

Sorry no where in the US is safe to raise kids, but you can move to and area where not a lot of people can afford to live and you'll separate yourself from a lot of issues

THE WOODLANDS OUTSIDE OF HOUSTON, IT IS THE 3RD HIGHEST RANKED STATE, LOUISIANA IS 49TH AND WE PAY 12,OOO A YEAR FOR PRIVATE
