France, Genoa, the Papal States, Venice, Hungary, Poland, the Tueteonic Order and Denmark.

During the Rennaisance, Germany was many small states bordered by the Duke of Burgundy's French lands, the Duchy of Milan, the Papal States, Venice, Austria, Bohemia, Poland, and Denmark (aka at that time Union of Kalmar [Denmark, Norway & Sweden]).

By 1648, the Small German States were bordered by the Kingdom of Denmark, land owned by independant Sweden, the Dutch Republic, the Spanish Netherlands, the Kingdom of France, Switzerland, Austria, Barvaria, Saxony and finally, Brandenburg.

By 1812, Germany was under rule of the French Empire, as was most of continental Europe from Spain to the Austrain border. It was, however, still bordered by Prussia and the Austrain Empire.
