Think American campaigns are stupid?

I have yet to ascertain the wisdom of putting literally hundreds -- thousands? -- of posters of UGLY politicians running for elections in Germany everywhere, including the same posters a few meters apart. I guess if we are in a hurry and couldn't believe that last poster we saw was really that goofy or ugly, we can confirm five seconds later. Who is PAYING for all this nonsense? Let me guess -- we hard-working taxpayers (no, Beamten, I am not referring to most of you!).

At least we are having a mayoral election here in Heidelberg to FINALLY rid the town of Beate Weber. With any luck, the U.S. Army might get the DESERVED support it once did. But one candidate -- Caja Thimm -- LOOKS a bit like Weber. In my mind, that immediately disqualifies her! But then someone told me another candidate, Dr. (have to have that title) W眉rzner, was on the Hauptstrasse acting like Bill Clinton. That means he's out too. The remaining candidate is SPD, so no way.

Isn't there anyone to vote for??

We face the same issues everywhere. The people who want to be in power probably shouldn't be. It's the fundamental problem with democracy. I think every politician should be somewhat unwilling to be a politician. But it's never going to happen.

The worst problem in our politics in the U.S. is money. If we had publically funded campaigns, and the millionaires were on the same playing field as the publicans, then we might see some very different outcomes. As is, the rich reach the stupid with lots of money, and they get together and elect Bush.

You don't have a photo of yourself or an Avatar, so I wonder if you are all that good-looking...

Otherwise:
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...

would you like some cheese with your whine?
some american cheese maybe?
