What are the most common problems tourists encounter in Basel?

I want to visit Basel so I want to be ready for anything that can happen. I also want to know about the good and exciting things that I can expect.

A few times a year there are big conventions in Basel and ABSOLUTELY ALL of the hotel rooms in the entire city are taken.

Basel is a major city in Europe (not by size nor polulation) . It has major parmaceutical companies in the world.
Very clean city and safe. Most people speak two languages there (German and French), since it is located on the border of Germany and France.
Downtown is a must see.

The Swiss

You can expect to have your wallet raped, your nationality insulted, and your excitement cut short at the boredom of a holiday in Basel with nobody but xenophobic Swiss con-artists to socialize...

Go somewhere else where it's more fun...
