Stuttgart as Base of Travel?

Using Stuttgart as my hotel base- what day trips can I take by car and be back for dinner in Stuttgart each night?
We are planning on spending several days in Munich already so I'm thinking of other sites to visit. Thanks.

I was in Stuttgart about 3 months ago. Here are my recommendations:

Heidelberg. It's a beautiful city with a wonderful castle and it's within 2 hr drive of Heidelberg. I'd also recommend Strasburg in France (~ 2 hrs away). Great cathedral and nice shops.

Tubingen (30 minutes) - college down with nice shopping & river's running thru it. You can get some nice pictures of people on boats going slowly down the rivers.

Baden Baden (1.5 hrs away) for its mineral baths.

Rhein River (2.5 hrs) great tour of the river by boat & good wines.

I've even done Zurich & back but I didn't really care of Zurich. Way too expensive.

If you head to Munich, I would recommend Fussen & the Neuschwanstein Castle.

Enjoy.
