What sources could I as an American find a job in Bavaria?

The only way I could ever afford to visit Bavaria would be to work there. What sources might an American search for jobs there?

First go to Germany, as you won't get offered any jobs unless you are already in the country. Apply to the nearest Berlitz school to teach English, they always need people, they have their own training programme and you don't need any experience of teaching or knowledge of German...then once they offer you a job, you get a letter from the Berlitz school to support your application for a work visa (which you can get pretty easily in Germany if you have an employer ready to offer you a job).

Check out the AFRC rec center in Garmisch. You could probably find a job there and Garmisch is amazingly beautiful. You might also be able to get a temporary job at one of the many military bases in Germany.

You can try monster (www.monster.de)

There is a networking platform the Open Business Club (now Xing), where you could look for contacts: www.openbc.com

Try applying for jobs with the military (as a civilian). The commissary in exchnge at each military base hires local nations but they prefer to hire American because it is easier to communicate with the customers.

Mitomom has a good shot at asking for jobs with the Armed Forces Recreation Center Garmish.

But Bavaria is more then Garmish. Try also looking at http://www.usajobs.com

I don't know your skills but maybe you can find a US Gov't job there.

Also check out.Civilian Personnel Office http://cpolrhp.belvoir.army.mil/eur/inde...
Click on "Employment"
Make sure you then check for jobs under both AF and NAF jobs. LN is for European citizens.

Bavaria locations would be (for US Gov't Employment)
Schweinfurt
Bamberg
Grafenwoehr
Vilseck
Ansbach
Nurnberg
Garmish
Oberammergau

You have already some good advice. If you are a US citizen then the advice of getting a US government job is good. As far as coming here then looking for a job, i do not think much of that. Most Germans speak english, and I do not see any want adds in the paper for people needed to speak english. In fact germany has passed or is passing a law stating that people imigrating to or seeking work in germany must pass a german language test to be granted a work permit with a sponser. There are 4 million unemployed germans looking for a job, not to mention the eastern europeans with skills, the africans, middle easterns and asians all looking for the big money jobs in germany.
The job market in german has change allot in the last 4 years.
I would find a job first.
Best of Luck
Germany is a great place to live.

Depends of what line of work you do,There are good car plants that hire skilled car plant employs. If you are just starting out in live and have no trade yet. try the hotel or tourism industry, but there is a job shortage now in Germany too. so i wish you good luck.

they hate americans do you think they will hire you
