I booked a holiday and paid the balance in april 07.?

i received a phone call yesterday to come get my tickets.upon arrival at my travel agents i was told i had to pay another 拢350,or i was not getting them.i have an invoice which says my balance is 拢0.they claim a mistake was made by them regarding admin fees,saying they forgot to add this on to the overall cost of the holiday,should i have to pay this fee,seeing as it was there mistake?

Get on to Consumers Advice straight away. They are in the yellow pages and are run by Belfast Council, but if you live in another council district they will redirect you. It looks like they are at fault to me as they have made the mistake . Good Luck. I had a similar prob with a psp and without them I couldn't have got a replacement.

Considering you have a letter saying your balance is 拢0, this sounds like extortion to me. I would agree with the first answerer too, go straight to citizens advice with the letter. I wouldn't imagine you can be held responsible for their mess up, administrative or otherwise.

Do you have the initial quote you accepted at time of booking to prove you have paid the amount agreed when you entered the contract. When are you due to go on holiday. I don't think you should have to pay it, but contact citizens advice or demand to speak to their headoffice. Anyway, travel tickets are only printed and despatched when the travel operator is happy the full balance is settled! Good Luck!

Okay, I don't suppose you have a Better Business Bureau office nearby? Report them to your local consumer advocate group. It was their mistake, they are responsible for it. Make sure you have your original invoice and all the papers they ever gave you when you paid for your tickets. Ask to see the manager of the travel agent office. Maybe if you explain the situation to the mangager, you can prove you have the invoice and it's not your fault they screwed up, then you can get it settled. Then go to the consumer advocate group and ask them how to deal with this situation legally.

By the way, travel agents generally charge around a 10% fee for their services on whatever tickets people buy, so unless you paid 3,500 pounds for your tickets, they are trying to seriously rip you off.

unfortunately you will probably find in the small print something about having the right to change the cost of the holiday up until a certain time. If this is the case you should also be entitled to a refund if you do not want to proceed with the holiday.

My advice is to scrutinise the small print, I doubt if they would demand further payment unless there is a clause allowing them to do so especially if they are a large firm.
