Visiting Berlin, what is name of the huge retaill store in Berlin that has a huge range of products & fab food

hall on top floor. Also what is the name of the beautiful castle ? and terraced gardens ?? Potsdam something???? just outside Berlin.

The castle in Potsdam is named "Sans Souci" - for more information, click here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sanssouci
And "KaDeWe" is the name of that Berlin shopping center, as the other participants told you.

Greetings from Germany...

It's called "Kaufhaus des Westens" ("Department Store of the West"), KDW (pronounced roughly "Kah day way") for short.

Here's a link to their web page - it has all the info on how tom get there and what they offer. (After the intro, you can switch the site to English by clicking on the button in the upper left hand corner.)
http://www.kadewe-berlin.de/
(If you like chocolate, you have to try some of theirs! :D)

The castle is calledSchlo脽 Charlottenburg. Here's a site with info: http://www.aviewoncities.com/berlin/char...
It is really very beautiful - if the weather is good, take a stroll in the gardens. :)

KaDeWe, Kaufhof Des Westens.

Don't know the castle.

KaDeWe (Kaufhaus des Westens) it's so nice there but very expensive too. Have fun.

KaDeWe on Kurfurstendamm (south central park area--at Wittenberg Platz U-Bahn Station) , Sans Souci is the fancy palace at Potsdam.....I don't know where people are getting there info from....because several people have called KaDeWe a shopping center and it's continental Europe's largest Department store in an oldish looking but very distinguished looking building...

KaDeWe doesn't have a food hall on the top floor. ..it's on about the 5th floor.
there are many department stores that are much cheaper than KaDeWe....Karstaadt and others have food floors as well.
The castle in Potsdam with the gardens is Sans Souci. Wait until things are blooming in the gardens to go. In April it was still dormant last time we went.

Sans Soucis is the Palace you are looking for:

But Ms. S. is right for mentioning the Charlottenburg Palace - it also has beautiful gardens, a lake, a path along the Spree River, a couple of museums and several galleries. It is definitely worth a visit, and is right near the old city center in the West, just a short 10-15 miinute bus ride away.
As to KaDeWe, the food section is on the 6th floor, which used to be the top floor, until they added the 7th, which now has a restaurant and cafe. Don't let the stories of high prices put you off. Yesterday I bought some cups at KaDeWe that are going out of production, so they were marked down. When I later went to Wertheim (which IS a good store, but the food section can't compare to KaDeWe), they were marked down less than they had been at KaDeWe. The sales at KaDeWe (it's their 100th anniversary) can give unbeatable bargains.
Have a wonderful time. It's a fabulous city. And the most wonderful things here are not the shops, but the museums, parks, gardens, historical buildings, cafes, lakes, forests........

KDEW is a huge store the best one in germany...
