Will Germans remove Soviet war memorial like Estonians did? |
I doubt it. Germans seem so pacifist, so defeatist....... I dont think so. Too many communists here, the party has only changed the name:its now the "PDS". Same people, just another name! Of course not. Why should they? Well, they tore down the Checkpoint Charlie Memorial in Berlin, so it wouldn't surprise me. A shame, in my opinion. I seriously doubt it. It is a reminder of the way things were. And it appears that you have NO idea about Germans. Your preceptions of leftist and defeatists are purely ignorant speculation. Germans are proud people with good hearts and a kind word. I have lived here for nearly 20 years and I have never encountered the kind of person that you are referring to. Well, unless it was some hippy and a greenpeace rally, but those hippys are all over the world and not just Germany. Many of the memorials in Berlin that honor the Red Army were built by the Soviets themselves. I know that the Russians made the Germans promise to pay for the upkeep of at least one of these memorials "in perpetuity," so they can't tear it down ever. |
