Last year 18,000 Germans were charged with "thought crimes"?

Although 100 were violient crimes, going to jail for wearing a swastica or dening the holacaust? Seems incredible for an advanced western country to still have such oppressive laws.

It certainly does seem excessive to name a crime a "thought crime". How can the police verify the evidence of a person's thoughts unless they are printed and published somewhere so that they incite others to violence or something. If those are the types of crimes you are talking about then I can understand the German government; otherwise, I agree with you, it does seem incredible.

Sounds like the Germans are still paying for their crimes committed during WW1 and WW2.

Well I see your point, but when you really think about all the violence and hate in the world, I guess they figure they really need to keep the hate from getting out of hand again.

Just look at Rwanda and Darfur, as well as other places, people are killing for hate everywhere all the time.

It's funny, all this religion, you think people would be so full of love...hm?

I think if you were a jewish descendant from the holocaust...
you might have a different opinon about this you mentioned.
