I am going to berlin in november....a wee bit of advice please?

i am goin to be stayin at http://www.circus-berlin.de/ . and im going for 6 days i was just wondering how expensive is it for shoppin over there for clothes n food n stuff. also wonderin about wee bars with bands playin or rock kinda clubs as im into rock,metal,punk everything.

how much spendin money should i take with me cos im plannin on touring the city

Oh, nice, you're staying at the circus - I know a guy who's working in the caf茅 of the hostel. It's a really nice one, excellent location, nice folks hanging around.

There is something like a squat not far away, including a bar where they play punk music and selling cheap beer, it's located in the backyard brunnenstrasse 7 (called subversiv). a nice "shop" is the "for free shop" (umsonstladen in german), where everything is for free if you leave something else, at Brunnenstra脽e 183. Nice clubs around:
- Acud (alternative/underground cultural project with lots of rooms, sometimes bands playing), Veteranenstrasse 21
- Kaffee Burger, Torstra脽e 60 (changing program, have a look at www.kaffeeburger.de)
- Schokoladen, great, cheap club for live music, underground rock/punk and similar bands, Ackerstrasse 169, http://www.schokoladen-mitte.de/
- Roter Salon at the theater Volksb眉hne at Rosa-Luxemburg Platz (live music and club)
- Eingang 28 at Christinenstrasse 28, small lounge/club playing eclectic music, alternative, at special evenings homosexual crowd
- Cafe Zapata at the Tacheles in Oranienburger Strasse


The shopping quarter (especially clothes) is a walk down to Weinmeisterstra脽e, Hackescher Markt, Alte Sch枚nhauser and neue Sch枚nhauser Strasse, but it's not inexpensive there, as there are the more expensive brands and smaller Berlin based designers (normal clothes - pants, shoes and stuff - about 50 to 150 euro).
Another nice street is the Kastanienallee a bit to the north.

Food and Drink is generally cheap, snacks are only 2 to 3 euro, drinks at a restaurant the same price, a meal at a restaurant is about 5 to 10 euro. If you're into cocktails try BR101 at Torstrasse 69 (not much alcohol inside, but only 3 euros every cocktail).
Ask for a "Weinerei" at the hostel, there are some around, the concept is, that you pay 1 euro for a glass and then can drink as much wine as you want (in some of them you can also eat) and pay what you want.

Well, how much money...
It depends of course on your shopping tours. The absolute minimum without shopping is about 20 Euro per day if you know where to eat and drink cheap. 50 Euro including visits to museums (if you're into this, get a 3 day ticket with which you can visit all the state museums for just 15 or 16 euro!) and clubs including drinks, but without shopping.
So maybe about 100 (about 500 euro for the whole trip) euro if you go shopping too.

Get yourself a weekly card for public transport.I think it is only 25 Euro.Public T. is safe,clean and very frequent.even at night.Du
Where are you from?If you are from Bangkok shopping is deer,if you are from Tokio it麓s extremly cheap...
Night-and club life is cheap and plenty.
There are plenty of cool second hand cloth shops and several weekend fleamarkets.
Food supermarkets sell booze as well and are the cheapest in Europe.(ALDI,LIDL,PLUS,Penny)
We have some nice and very cheap restaurants,where you can stuff yourself with little money.
If your black,there are some areas,which you shouldn麓t visit by night.

Go berlin wall and you can go some museums which also about historical DDR periods. And Brandenburg Tor is the good for complete this history... Than you can make a city tour or small boat trip...

I have spent quite a bit of time there and it is really no more expensive (food, clothing, etc) than what you pay for here in the US. Imagine a normal shopping trip and take that same amount. You can get really good cheap food on the streets such as Doener Kebabs and Wurst, so that's a plus. I'm a vegetarian, so that wasn't an option for me, but my boyfriend loves it!

If you are going near the end of November (when the Christmas festivals come out) take some extra cash because there are some neat things at the booths, great candy, etc.

Beer is A LOT cheaper there and more plentiful. You will get a huge mug for 3 euros (or 4 US dollars). In the US a beer that size might run you $10! So, that is another plus.

Definitely go to the Altes Museum and the entire Museum Insel (Museum Island), Treptower Park (with some amazing russian statues), KaDeWe (the biggest and coolest department store in the entire world!!), and of course the Wall and Check-point Charlie. Potsdamer Platz is cool and definitely try to go through Mohenstrasse (a subway stop) which has the marble that was once the walls of Hitler's office. It is reddish with white swirls. Very cool.

Bars, clubs, etc will cost you no more (possibly less for entrance) than any club here in the US. They don't do the insanely high ticket price like we do here.
