Trains from Zurich to Geneva?

I will be going to Zurich in late June. I will arrive in Zurich airport but I will go to Geneva for two days first, then go back to Zurich for 4 days. Does anyone know if I can just go to the rail station and pick up train ticket to go to Geneva on a Sunday morning? How much is the train ticket? And is there anyway I can book the tickets online? Thanks in advance!

When you arrive at zurich, there is a train station connected to the airport.

you will be able to buy your tickets on the day. the ticket sellers all speak english, and are very helpful if you are polite.

i would recommend buying the ticket on the day, just in case your travel is delayed.

swiss trains are very efficient, dont even be 1 min late or you will miss it.

cost will be about CHF120.

for more info you can check out http://www.sbb.ch/en/

every 30 minutes.

i fully agree with cbikego, the travelling time to geneva will be about 3 hrs, return tickets 1st class: sfr. 268.00, 2nd class 162.00, make sure that once out of zurich main station you sit on the left side in travelling direction, like that you get to see the glorious lake panorama once you get to the romandie

You can also buy a ticket on the train, with cash or credit card. (I think it costs a bit more--5 franks?)

If you time it right, there are a VERY limited number (like 8) of really cheap tickets available online here:

Good luck though!

(Edit)
As someone said, there's a train every thirty minutes from something like 5 am to 10 pm. It takes 3:02 or 3:04 from the Zurich airport to the Geneva main station. If you don't manage the cheap option above, I strongly recommend that you take the train at 13 minutes past the hour, rather than 43 minutes past. Those trains go through Bern and Fribourg and are MUCH more scenic than the ones through Biel. Well worth waiting the half-hour (and possibly the extra few franks, not sure how much).
