If I have a valid Schengen visa, do I need a seperate visa for Switzerland?

The Schengen visa has been issued by sweden.

Yes, you do, unless you are a citizen of a country that has signed a visa waiver agreement with Switzerland. US and Canadian citizens need visa, if they intend to stay longer than 3 months in Switzerland. For shorter stays a valid passport is sufficient.

This will change, as Switzerland has ratified the Schengen agreement. It will start to take effect, when the ratification process has been completed by all sides. This will probably be the case in 2007 or 2008.

A Schengen visa is valid for Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Island, Italy, Luxembourg, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and Holland but it must be issued only by the country which is the final destination.
