Best neighborhood in Santiago de Chile for 4 week stay?

we are planning to spend about 4 weeks in Santiago de Chile next year (me, my husband and our then 3.5 year old son). Which neighbourhoods should I consider staying at. I'd like something with lots of infrastructure, sort of close to the main attractions, good transportation and safe.

Thanks,

Tina

Hi Tina,
the furthest you move to the east, the better. But not to far away as you may not find things close to you. I would definetly find something in Las Condes, Vitacura or Lo Barnechea. They are great neighbourhoods, with lots of mall nearby, lots of parks and nice recreational areas and lots taxis are found there too. The quality of the air there is better than near downtown. If you are looking for an apartment to rent I suggest you try Hillside, which is a real estate company who also work with relocation (www.hillside.cl) The guy who own the company talks perfect english as he is from Scottish family.
If you are looking for a great hotel to stay, I recommend Holtel Kennedy (in Las Condes) which is a 5 star boutique hotel and not that expensive. But if you're staying 4 weeks it would be much better to rent an apartment or go to an apart-hotel. There is a great apart hotel call Time Callao (in Las Condes) and they rent fully equiped apartments to foreigners.
