How much money should I take...?

for a one month stay in Santiago????

Its me and my brother going next July but we need to start saving now.

I've also heard that the Ritz-Carlton in Chile its the cheapest one in the whole wide world!!!

Do you guys know around how much?

Consider staying at places rather than Las Condes, La Dehesa communes. As these are considered to be a higher class suburbs of Santiago which you will see compared to other suburbs of Santiago.

Travel_Expert is right in some aspects for a traveller who has a relatively large budget but the sounds of things she hasn't been to moderate locations of Santiago eg Maipu, La Florida etc from the posts i've seen her contribute to.

Don't take a taxi, use public transport, it's really good. Acquire a Bip! Card which is a public transport card which is used for the metro and buses. If ou are within a commune use collectivos, collective taxis rather than taxis which is relatively more expensive.

I've travelled to Santiago many times for long periods as I am a Chilean citizen living in another country. 20,000 pesos a day should get you through if you wish to have a comfortable time financial wise but don't expect to spend all of this as many things are cheap; food, clothes; activities; accomodation etc. Trust me.

The peso is 530 per dollar but let me tell you that Santiago is quite an expensive city right now. Taxis are quite expensive and though the public system is great (metro is the best I've seen in the world!) be careful with the rush hours as the new public system (Transantiago) is still very very chaotic.
If you want to stay in a great hotel, dont go to Ritz Carlton. Go to the Hyatt Regency which is in one of the best spots and it's huge and very nice. It's in Las Condes and I've stayed there 5 times. The other two times I've been in Santiago I've stayed at Kennedy Hotel which is a 5 star boutique hotel just in front of Hyatt and not that expensive, you can find rooms of 80 dollars per day including breakfast.
It all depends on what you'll be doing in Santiago and where will you be eating. I guess around 20,000 pesos will be enough per day (that's around 40 - 50 dollars) but it all depends on what you're doing.
If you want to buy handicrafts, go to Los Dominicos which is in Vitacura (a neighbourhood).
July is wintertime in Chile so if you want to go to the snow centres (Valle Nevado, Portillo, etc) that;s quite expensive and you better book it well in advance.
If you're going to provinces I recommend Puerto Varas and Frutillar in the south (lake area) and then La Serena up north (4th region).
