Does anyone know of any products that are available in the U.S. that would do well in Chile?

If you are from Chile and have spent time in the U.S. do you know of any products and/or services that are available in the U.S. but not Chile that you think would do well in Chile.

How about someone from the US that lives in Chile?

Chilean people on the whole are wonderful but they do have a tendency to stubbornly stick to the tried and true, especially where food is concerned. I would not recommend trying to introduce an exotic new cuisine, it tends not to go over too well.

On the other hand, they eat up electronic novelties as fast as you can throw it at them. They are very progressive when it comes to techie anything.

One thing I have seen a serious need for here is speciality size clothing, particularly plus sizes. And women's shoes!! Holy cow, if you are a bigfoot American woman, forget about buying decent looking shoes. They simply just don't have them. I work with many other "gringos" here and the women are always complaining about finding shoes that fit.

not that it answers you question, but i think they need to bring MANJAR to the states!

Lawn sprinklers, parking meters and water heaters.

I don't know if people would buy them but on a recent trip I saw lots of maintenance men watering grass by hand. Likewise the parking meter is a person who "says" he's going to watch over your car for a tip. The on demand water heaters we used were a joke.

And in reverse, you could do very well in the U.S. if you could find a way to sell Chilean bread here!

I have spent almost 5 years in Chile and returning soon.I don"t do importing or exporting ,the cost is very high. There are some imported products though. There is no Cheddar cheeses there or very little.

I lived 4 years in Chile and they even have Haagen Dazs! Chile is a top agricultural producer so I really dont think they need US products that much, besides, their economy is solid and they have TLC with the US so I guess every area has been catered for. I guess you better try with other South American country where import goods are not than popular or they are short of. I never lacked anything during my stay or never desperatly wanted any US product. Most of my colleagues were also american and they were ok in Chile too.
