Lived or been to China?

anyone who has ever lived or been to China, what was it like? Please give me PLENTY of DETAILS!!!

Hope you don't mind some details from someone living in China.
It's been 3 years since I came to China.
- 5 months in Chengdu capital of Sichuan province in the mid-ouest of China. Magnificent region, lots of things to visit : Leshan and its giant bouddhas, Jujiangyan, Emeishan and of course Sichuan it the home of the Pandas. So cute. If you plan to go there be sure you can eat hot and spicy.
- Shanghai : 10 months. Don't really like the city but everyone is saying you have to go there, you have to go there. Well what to say about it. Lots of building getting higher and higher. Everything is moving so fast. People there are a bit rough but have a bit more manners. Also a bit cleaner than other cities.
- Nanjing (300 km from Shanghai). Nice city too. Been there to study Mandarin. Quiet place, good food. Everything in town is reachable by bicycle. Problem is like Shanghai, it is damn cold in winter and really hot in summer.
- Guangzhou, arrived there in january. Nice place too. Close to Shenzhen and Hong-Kong. Excellent food. Problem I don't speak Cantonese.

For all China. People are usually nice and friendly with foreigners. But they are quite dirty. They throw their garbage everywhere in the streets, spit anytime, push you in the streets, buses, subways.

But it is definitly a great place to live and discover new things everyday.

I lived in China for the first nine years of my life. I am 16 and have been in Canada for almost 8 years. Life was alright actually. There were a lot of people everywhere, I lived in a decent sized apartment. School was moderately difficult. I only lived there as a little kid. So there's not really much I experienced. That was about it.
Oh yeah I liked going to (illegal) street markets with my dad at night. And as far as I can remember there was a place to eat almost everywhere (unlicensed, of course).

I lived there on and off for two decades. It was fine (like the other person said锛宐ut then I did grow up in a upper-class family and went to private school.) Yes, the school is challenging.

Other than language and some minor cultural things, I really don't see a big difference. The difference is mainly on the little everyday details rather than the vast picture.

I lived there for more than 5 years
Everyday was an adventure
The ppl were generally friendly, unlike in my NYS city
It was safe
No one rammed their political/other beliefs down your throat
Some of the clothes over there in the open markets are very cool..buy them..I have too much to say

Ok. Everything there is a bit messy but its not a bad place to live in. Cheap cost of living and life is very interesting. There are tons of traditional markets where you can actually get fresh meat, that you know is fresh.(They keep chickens in cages at the market and you get to choose which one you want for dinner). During my stay of 3 years in China I have gathered a collection of like 100 pirated DVDs. If you go to China for an education, you would have tons of catching up to do, because their science, math, and language courses are like 2-3 years ahead of the American system.

o.k , if u like asian and can eat something different , and important u r not chinese u will like it !~

I have lived in China five years and I can truly say it is like no place else on earth. It is Communism in name only as it is the most capitalistic place in the world - got something to sell? Sit ont he sidewalk and sell it.

The villages are amazing - I have had a chance to be where no other foreigner has ever been -sometimes invited and sometimes just wondered into someone's house pretending (and sometimes no pretednding ) ignorance that those things were actually house doors.

China has everything you could want to buy in the big cities such as beijing - has pollution galore (in most cities led by Beijing Stinks -as i taught my students to call it) but it also has the most beautiful cleanest city I have ever been in with the second-cleanest air in the world Sanya.

The weather ranges from tropical (Sanya and all of Hainan island) to sub-Arctic (Harbin and the nothernmost provincial cities) prices range from I cna't beleive i can buy 100 pairs of socks for less than five dollars to that is per unit for food in Beijing (and Shenzhen I am told is far worse)

the people are friendlya s can be although you will still encounter stares -oddly I got the most stares in beijing and the fewest in Ma Cun (a tiny little place that means horse village) -the exact opposite of what i would have expected.

You will hear TIC (This is China as both an excuse for inefficiency and as a proud statement of nationalistic fervor).

I love China when I am not absolutely hating it.

I guess the same can be said about my Chinese wife!

China suuuuucks
