What is there to do in cincinnati that does not cost a fortune? |
I have this foreign exchange student in one of my art classes and she is just starting to learn the language and starting to make some friends. she's really into city life so i told her i would take her downtown sometime. i've been in downtown cincinnati a few times but i don't really know of anything fun to do down there that doesn't cost a bunch of money to do. i mean the art museums cost 25$ per person and same with the play house in the park stuff. i mean right now the only thing i can think of is taking her to chill out in hyde park or something. does anyone have any good ideas of what to do in cincinnati. it doesn't even have to be in down town. like any good shopping areas or cool parks or stuff like that. The Krohn Conservatory in Eden Park is free and beautiful. Winton Woods park up in Greenhills has a free Frisbee golf course along with a great play area and plenty of free walking trails to get you back to nature. Devue Park in Ludlow Kentucky is a nice park with a fantastic view of Cincinnati. Not a whole lot going on there this time of year. Here is a link to their Visitors Burea. It may help. http://www.cincyusa.com/ The Cincinnati Art Museum, in Eden Park, is free. Take her on an overall tour of the city. Show her the different cultures around the city. Take her to the Museum Center ( Union Terminal), there is always a cool exhibit going on there, like the bodies on going on now. Take her to Findlay Market, lots of local culture. Don't limit yourself to downtown, there is a whole big city to learn and enjoy. Don't be afraid to go to a part of town that you are unfamiliar with, you both can learn together. Speaking of Hyde Park- here is an off the wall idea for you. I believe its entirely free. Do you know Observatory Ave? Well, guess what there is on Observatory Ave? LOL, right, an old observatory, complete with huge, working telescope. Its old, but what you can see through it is amazing. And unlike modern, working observatories, at this one, they will actually let you look through the scope. Its not even a well known thing to do in the area, so when you go, its not likely to be very crowded at all. I would take your friend to Jungle Jim's. It is an international supermarket that sells foods from all over the world. It is on Dixie Highway (Route 4) in Fairfield. Train museum |
