Football weekend in Cleveland?

I'm planning a trip with 3 other guys to go watch some football in Cleveland for a weekend. I know the schedule is not yet released but I've got an idea of pricing etc. We live about 4 hours away so we will drive to Cleveland.

My question are:

1. Is it best to stay near the stadium or elsewhere in the city? We want to party at night and go to some pubs. Although we will have a car, we'd rather park it for the weekend once we arrive.

2. Is it safe to stay near the stadium?

3. Is the tailgating on game day any good in Cleveland? I've been to Buffalo, Green Bay, Chicago, New Orleans and they were all really good (except for Chicago surprisingly).

4. Can you recommend some great pubs in the city? Other ideas of things to do in Cleveland would be great as well.

Any help would be really appreciated.

1. Check out the Holiday Inn Express (Downtown) It's actually really nice. I usually don't like Holiday Inn's but this one is reallly nice. I'm picky too!
2. Safe
3.THE BEST!! Did you see the Buffalo game?
4.People go to the Warehouse distrisct ( dance bar, wine, very nice resurants- W.6th street)
Check out Cleveland Magazine. They have a website.
Winking Lizard& Bone Yard are Sports Bars.
I don't know how old you are, so I don't know what bars that you would like.
The Football Hall of Fame would only be about an hour drive.

Go to "Priceline," and just look for the best prices. Anywhere near the train system will be good.

There are a lot of near by restraunts.

1: Stay in some hotel in the city but dont go east of East 9th. Bad area. research hotels sorry cant help ya.

2: Its safe if you stay in the hustle and bustlke of the city---just dont veer off path too much.

3: Cleveland is the best tailgating in the country!
4: The Clevelander is nice. 834 Huron is the address.

#1) Yes it is would be very easy for you to stay near the stadium and near the party spots, all within walking distance. You may want to look into the hotels that are located inside Tower City.
#2) Yes it is pretty safe to stay near the stadium. There are always a lot of police out during the weekend in the place you're planning on staying. If you're rooting for the Browns you'd be in good shape not to get into it with anybody over something stupid.
#3) sorry I don't know I have never gone tailgating sorry!
#4) Check out the Warehouse district located on W.6th street, there are plenty of places to party and drink.

Have fun and be safe.
