What is a Courtesy Card otherwise known as FOP?

I know it gets useful when the cops pull you over. How does it work and how can i get one?

fraternal order of police
i have one because of where i work donates a few hundred a month its gotten some of the folks here out of tickets ive never used mine. all you do is show it to the officer BEFORE he/she starts writing the ticket.
very important BEFORE otherwise your basically stuck with the ticket.

the more you donate the more cards you get and if you donate over a certain amount you get little badges too.

someone else also mentioned you can get them from officers if you are friends /family with them.

It's ridiculous to pretend you are "Above The Law."

FOP is the Fraternal Order of the Police. Don't believe the courtsy card thing. They won't give you a break just because you donated $20.00 to the FOP.

What you asking about is a Friends of Police. You need to have a family member or a VERY close friend on the police force. They will give you a card with their name on it . When you get pulled over the police will look at the card, sometimes they might even call the name on it , to check you out . Most of the time they will just look at it and let you go , as long as your not breaking the law to much .

My family all carry FOP or OPBA (Ohio Patrolmans Benevolent Assn) cards. If they are stopped for a MINOR traffic infraction, the officer who stopped them can choose to give them a pass and take away the card. The card must be signed by an officer to be official and the driver better personally know the officer on the card or I do not accept them. Think of it as a perk for willing to get shot at 40 hours a week for minimal pay.
