Do you know an Arizmendez?

That is my last name. I found out while I was in Spain that my name has its origins from the northern parts of Spain. I was just wondering if anyone has any ties with anyone with the same last name. I am interested in verifying this is actually true. Thanks.

~Steven

Your last name has a basque origin. It means "mountains with oaks". In the north of Spain (Basque Country and Navarre), it's more common to find the last name spelled "Arizmendi". You can consult the spanish telephone directory www.paginasblancas.es. Select the provinces "Navarra", "Vizcaya", "Alava" or "Guipuzcoa".
