I have 5 days to visit Valencia, what places shouldn't I miss? Valencia has many things worth visiting. The City Hall building, The Miguelet tower, the Basilica of Nuestra Se帽ora de los Desamparados, the fine arts museum, The Casa Museo of the painter Benlliure, 9 palaces... 23 monuments, 5 lovely fountains, 34 museums, L'Oceanografic (Aquarium), L'Hemisferic (planetarium), El Palau de la Musica (for concerts and expositions). The port, the beachfront, the Lladr贸 factory with its exposition hall (worth the visit!).... About 30 different exposition halls... With all this you will find five days a short stay! And don't forget to visit La Albufera... The Acuarium, is the thing to visit in Valencia, Es Valencia is the third largest city in Spain and is growing very fast. As an architect I have a special interest in the city because of the recent great works. A visit to la Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias is a most. The "city" is a modern acropolis designed by Santiago Calatrava and Felix Candela. The aquarium is the largest on Europe with nice dolphin show, a beluga wales pool and tunnels of different ocean ecosystems. Another great building of the complex is the eye shaped Imax theater. The area is spectacular with the buildings surrounding water pools. The other new area of the city are the new port facilities created for the America's Cup that end a few months ago. In the historic center of the city don't miss the Mercado building, probably the bigger one in Spain, the Cathedral and the IVAM museum (modern art). If you like the beach go to Malvarrosa a trolley can give you a ride there. There is a sealife place there and science park - you need a whole day to see it ideally. Just outside Valencia is a great place called lliria - just ask there at the tourist info office - they have some interesting history. |
