Least expensive international trip from Dallas, TX?

I live in Dallas, TX and have never been to another country. I would like to go somewhere (besides Mexico) but I dont want to be on a plane for 16 hours... where can I go that is not too expensive, and requires less than 10 hours in a plane?

Costa Rica is awesome if you are into ecotourism. I went there a couple years ago, and it was the best vacation I have ever been on and I travel often. The food is good, the drinks are cold, and the people are sooo nice. Try the Pacific coast side though... it is safer and prettier!

Jamaica or the Dominican Republic aren't too expensive and they have some cool all-inclusive resorts. You should sign up for the travelzoo.com newsletter. They find all kinds of cheap trips and send them out via e-mail every week. Although, all the really cool international places will be at least a 10 hour flight...

Canada is your best bet; after that, try Costa Rica or Belize.
