Working in Australia?

My other half is a Carpenter - do you think it would be difficult for him to find a job or a sponsor in Darwin, if not where could we start looking?

you shouldn't have any problems mate, we're in a trades shortage (infact we need 270,000 trades skilled people). If you register with seek.com you'll find a site for Brits wanting to work in OZ, with your man being a carpenter it will be easy for you.

West Oz, Northern Territory and QLD have the greatest need.

good luck mate.

Check with the Australian Embassy, if fact Im pretty sure they publish the trades on line they are looking for. My friend went out there about 12 years ago, as they were looking for hairdressers. Carpentry skills are short in the UK, so reckon you are well on your way as there is bound to be a shortage there.

Go check up on their website www.australia.com, and www.seek.com.au/. It could be very useful and send a couple of email to those people.

This site will give you all the information you require http://www.immigration.gov.au/immigratio... You will need to read all the different pages relating to your situation especially the page related to 'Professionals and other Skilled Migrants' which can be found under 'Workers'. I hope this makes it easier for you to understand Australia's immigration policies.

I know on the web they are looking for carpenters in Central Australia, heaps of jobs there, good luck.
