Where are some great places to stay in the Northern Territory? |
I have always wanted to stay on a big ranch/farm and have a unique outback experience, does anyone know if these exist within the Northern Territory? Another suggestion is El Questro (try googling it) in the Kimberleys (between Darwin and Broome). You can go very upmarket down to camping. If you have plenty of $$ you can even go cattle mustering by helicopter. If you want to have a truely outback experience, I would recommend one of those 4-wheel drive camping tours that takes 8-10 people across the Kimberly's. It is absolutely spectacular scenery with amazing wildlife. You camp out under the stars, cook over an open fire, have a wash every day or two under a waterfall and can go for days at a time without seeing other people/vehicles. I can also highly recommend a helicopter flight over the Bungle Bungles. If you go on a small guided trip like this it's great because these guys know the great spots to take you to and to make camp at and have a lot of local knowledge about aborigines and the flora and fauna. I'm normally a 5-star girl but this was one of the best things I have done in my life. Its a magical place. Yes they do. We call them Cattle stations here as they cover huge amounts of land. There is Pungalina station in the gulf country it is 5000'000 acres you can fish for barramundi . Just out of Adelaide river there is Mt Bundy Homestead. There will be quite a few others as well. Try google by putting in Northern territory cattle station holidays there are plenty and id recomened u look into elquestro which is in W.A but only about an 8 hr drive from darwin its well worh it |
