Has anyone been to the Galapagos Islands?

I have been thinking about visiting there for years. I was looking at cruises today, and wondered if anyone has ever been on a tour of the Galapagos. Would it be better to get a cruise and see all the islands, or to just stay on one island and take day trips to some of the close islands? And while I'm there, is there anything in Ecuador that I shouldn't miss?

Galapagos rocks!
I went there several years ago and it was wonderful...and now I wanna go back again!
I would highly recommend you to take a cruise, it saves time because the ship sails while you are sleeping, so when you wake up you are already in another island.. in this way you can make a better use of time!
Try visiting www.galapagosexplorer.com and www.galapagoslegend.com, they both are really nice ships and offer good tours.

Plus, while in Ecuador take some time to visit Guayaquil, Cuenca and Quito (especially the "Mitad del Mundo" monument).

Have a nice trip!!

Yup! It's one experience you shouldn't miss. Apart from those animals featured in the Discovery channel, the flora and fauna is fantastic. Take the 4 to 5 day cruise. Usually there is are specials from June thru August. Approx.1,500 usd per person now. When we went there a couple of years ago, it was just 800 something. That was enough for us, my brothers grew bored easily were it not for the cruise ship's amenities.

It' beautiful, you should not miss it.

These sites have information about Galapagos cruises and other important parts of Ecuador. I visited Galapagos long time ago and I enjoy it very much. I went for the staying in one island and did day trips, you do alot of walking and most of the day is spend travelling from one island to another, the plus is that it is usually small groups, your meal includes the catch of the day and in is a lot cheaper.
Have fun, it is a trip that you will remember for ever.

Boat tours are the most common of all tours in the Galapagos. It is the best way to see many islands in a short time. Land tours consume more time, in traveling back and forth, to and from the hotel and leave you with no chance of visiting the islands earlier or later in the day when nature is at its best. You can also sleep on board which will make your trip comfortable. The length of the tour depends on your budget. Four to eight days trips are most common.
