What is the capital of Ecuador? It used to be Guayaquil as the trade was easier due to the proximity with the ocean (I'm talking about hundreds of years ago!) but it is now Quito which is in the highlands. People are talking about changing it to Guayaquil in the future, it is a matter of politicians doing this move for economical reasons.
