I`m an south African male with wife and 2 small kids looking to move to Perth or Melbourne want help .?

I`m a quilified upholsterer and have already lodged our residancy visa appl. we have limited means so not able to buy an house. Looking for a city that will suite us best.know that is`t vague but would like to here from someone who is also in the furniture industry.

Although I can't help you with the furniture industry, as an Australian resident myself, I'd urge you to look at regional cities or the smaller state capitals. Melbourne is attractive but housing prices and rents are hitting extremes there at present and while Perth is better...it is rapidly moving upmarket thanks to the cash injection from the mining boom.

Adelaide and Brisbane are good city choices - while here in Victoria, have you looked into cities such as Ballarat and Bendigo? Within an hour of Melbourne but are fully-functional and shall we say self contained regional cities - and are much more affordable places to live...not to mention probably better for kids. Bendigo is especially recommended in my eyes!
